About Us
The Society of Recorder Players (Ireland) is a branch of the charitable organisation Society of Recorder Players (UK) which is dedicated to the promotion and support of musical education through the learning/playing of the recorder. It functions through a network of branches, and its membership consists of recorder players of all ages and abilities.
The SRP(I) meets on one Saturday afternoon a month (from September to July) to play music composed and/or arranged for recorders under the guidance of a conductor. Meetings run from 2.30 to 5.30pm and are divided into three sessions with a break in the middle of the meeting for tea and socialising.
Meetings take place in the Booterstown Community and Arts Centre, Grotto Avenue, Booterstown. The centre is easily accessed by car, through bus routes (4,7,7A) and by Dart services and is located across the road from the Booterstown Station carpark.
Members and visitors are encouraged to bring their own instruments and music stands – if you don’t have a music stand, the Society has a number of spare stands which are available to borrow for the duration of the meeting. Participants are also asked to bring their own keep-cup for tea or coffee.
Music will be provided at the meeting; in addition, the Society has an extensive library of recorder music for members to borrow.
We welcome visitors and prospective new members at each meeting.
