History

The Society of Recorder Players(UK) was established by a group of recorder players and teachers with the aim of bringing players together through a network of local branches. The Society of Recorder Players (Ireland) joined the network in 1971 and continues to introduce both new and existing generations of recorder players to the vast variety of music dating from medieval times to the 21st century thus demonstrating the resilience, revelvance and versatility of the instrument. SRP(Ireland) members benefit from the expertise of well-known recorder teachers and educators as well as up and coming young professionals giving invaluable tuition and advice.

The Society of Recorder Players supports young players who seek to pursue a career in recorder playing through the availability of grants awarded from the Walter Bergmann Fund for which members of the network and others, both home and abroad, can apply.
