Membership

Join a welcoming community of recorder players across Ireland.

Who can join

We welcome players of every age, ability, and instrument size — descant, treble, tenor, bass and beyond. You don't need to read music fluently, you don't need an exam grade, and you certainly don't need to be a professional. If you enjoy the recorder and want to play with others, you'll fit right in.

Many of our members came back to the recorder later in life after a break of years, or even decades. Others are seasoned consort players. Both are equally at home with us.

What's included in your membership

When you join SRPI, you become part of a wider Society spanning Ireland and the UK. Your membership gives you:

  • Monthly playing meetings in Dublin, exploring repertoire across the centuries
  • An annual residential playing weekend with a guest conductor from the SRP (UK) visiting panel
  • One-day workshops on conducting, Baroque ornamentation, jazz, and more
  • One-to-a-part playing days for smaller consort work, guided by a tutor
  • Access to our music library, the SRPI Library of Recorder Music
  • A quarterly subscription to The Recorder Magazine, plus a monthly e-newsletter
  • Eligibility to attend the SRP (UK) Annual Recorder Festival
    Opportunities to perform, both
  • in society concerts and in fundraising events for charitable causes
